Beginning with the fundamental belief that a component should not alter the electronic signal, Massimiliano and Andrea spent two years (1994-1996) on research and development that would soon form the basis for their company and all of its subsequent components.
Their extensive research indicated that the traditional voltage feedback approach to circuit design, with its inability to handle high speed transients and complex loads, would tend to alter the electronic signal and thus introduce inaccuracies. So they set about designing a circuit around the lesser known current feedback approach. They soon discovered that their new approach to current feedback circuit design would allow for both higher speed responses and better load control, and thus produce a more accurate signal.
After 25 year in designing, crafting and listening to high end components, here in Audia Flight we had several times the temptation of create our own speakers brand. About ten years ago, we designed ourselves an original speaker for testing Audia Flight electronic units. That speaker is still in use in our lab with great satisfaction.
Two years ago, we decided to yield to the temptation to enter the high end loudspeakers market and to create Alare brand. Here we are.

Through his long carrer as a designer of audio equipment both in analogue and digital areas, Kato has been struggling to find out the reason why the improvement in static performance and the sound quality in playback did not always correspond. Kato made a hypothesis about a counter-concept which he called dynamic performacne. The adoption of the NOS (non-oversampling) mode for PCM playback in digital-to-analogue conversion as well as a non-NFB (without negative feedback) circuit in amplifiers come from this hypothesis. Indeed these worsen the measurement result in static performance, but a remarkable improvement can be recognised in dynamic one.
Soulnote believes dynamic performance keeping accuracy of the original waveform on the time axis as the most important for music playback, which is, however, still unmeasurable by any of the conventional methods. If you take a deep dive into the history of high fidelity amplifiers you’ll notice a common characteristic: they tended to be big and bulky. This is not necessarily a bad thing. In the course of our 37-year company history, we have written HiFi history several times, thanks to our developers Joachim Gerhard, known in the scene as “the Magician,” and our current chief developer Manfred Diestertich. From Avanti and Virgo, the first floor-standing loudspeakers on the market, to the Medea, launched in 1991. A legend in the HiFi scene.
